Meet a #Mother - Amy Peters
Please introduce yourself and tell us about your family.
Amy from Halifax, Nova Scotia. My husband Adam, and I have two beautiful boys, Avery 2.5, and Archer 5 months. We have a pretty simple life and try to enjoy the little things.
What are three daily things you can’t live without?
Hugs and kisses from my boys and coffee
If you could go back and visit yourself the year you became a mom, what would you tell yourself? What kind of encouragement or wisdom do you wish you had at that time?
Always trust your instinct, don't second guess yourself. The second time around I had more confidence and I'm more sure of myself. With my first, Avery sometimes I wondered am I doing this right?
What is something you strive to be intentional about? As a mother, how do you accomplish that in your day-to-day?
I always try to give Avery some special one on one time each day. Even if it is something as simple as reading a book. That quality time is so important. As for day to day accomplishments, I set my goals very low so I don't feel defeated if we don't get through the list. Some days you get a curve ball, some days I feel like I can take on the world.
What does your daily routine look like? Is there any one thing that you check off your list that makes your day a success?
Wake up, coffee & breakfast. Dressed by 9am, play date or errands in the morning (something to get us out of the house) lunch / naps, often a short afternoon outing such as a walk. Dinner, bath time, stories, then bed.
What has been your best #mothermoment?
Talking both boys out for a long play date. I was surprised how well it went. Outings with two is often daunting. Super proud mom moment to come home with two happy, tired kiddos.
What was the worst? How did you handle it?
Likely terrible two meltdowns. We try to be patience with Avery and help him through it our try to refocus his attention to something else.
What is your mother motto?
Soak up all the time with the little ones even the not so good moments. They grow up so quickly I often remind myself they won't always be this dependant on me and I know I'll miss it.
If you had a day to yourself how would you spend it + why?
I'd probably go to a cafe and enjoy a coffee uninterrupted. Then I'd look through photos of my boys because I miss them. Then I'd probably get bored and come home :)
